Kandyce Hylick, PhD, MPH
FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Kandyce Hylick, PhD, MPH, is a public health researcher and leader specializing in behavioral, maternal and women’s health and Founder and Executive Director of Wove Health. Her work spans women’s and maternal health research, program evaluation, data and measurement, health policy, and community-informed public health. Across her career, she has worked at the intersection of research, practice, policy, and community, using evidence not simply to describe health challenges, but to help identify where systems can do better.

Her research has included maternal mental health, health measurement and psychometrics, the experiences of Black pregnant and postpartum women, and the evaluation of programs and systems designed to improve health. Her broader public health work has ranged from community-based research and national policy advocacy to large-scale federal evaluation and data initiatives.

As a mother, scientist, and lifelong problem-solver, Kandyce has long been curious about the questions that have not yet been asked and the problems that may remain unsolved because no one has looked closely enough. Her passion for women’s health comes from a desire to improve not only health outcomes, but the everyday well-being of women throughout their lives.

Travel and learning from other cultures have also shaped how she thinks about health. Experiencing different communities and approaches to health and well-being reinforced her belief that no single discipline, system, or part of the world holds all the answers. There is tremendous value in listening, learning across cultures, and bringing different forms of knowledge together.

That belief became Wove Health: a place where science, data, community knowledge, and global perspectives can come together to ask better questions, uncover overlooked gaps, and build knowledge that meaningfully improves women’s lives.

Expertise That Expands Our Perspective

Wove Health is building a multidisciplinary Advisory Board to bring additional expertise, lived experience, and global perspectives to our work. Advisors will help strengthen our research, challenge our thinking, identify emerging opportunities, and ensure that the questions we pursue remain relevant to the women and communities we seek to serve.

Our goal is to bring together voices across disciplines, life stages, communities, and geographies, because better women’s health knowledge requires more than one kind of expertise.

Help Shape What Comes Next.

Wove Health is growing a global community of researchers, practitioners, organizations, advocates, and partners who share our commitment to building better knowledge for women’s health across all stages of life.
