Research That Connects the Stages of Women’s Health.

Women’s health is shaped by experiences, exposures, and transitions across a lifetime. Wove Health brings together research, data, community knowledge, and global perspectives to close critical gaps in evidence and improve health and well-being at every stage of life.

The experiences, exposures, and transitions that shape health early in life can influence well-being years or even decades later. From the timing of puberty and menstrual development to pregnancy, postpartum health, menopause, and healthy aging, each stage contributes to a larger health story.

Rather than studying life stages in isolation, we look at how they connect. That helps us spot overlooked relationships and build evidence that supports women’s health over time.

Our current research spans four areas of women’s health. They guide our work but don’t set its limits. As new questions emerge and partnerships grow, our work will grow with them.

Maternal Health & Well-Being

Investigating maternal mental health, pregnancy and postpartum experiences, quality of care, and the factors that shape women’s health during and beyond the childbearing years.

Adolescent Health & Development

Exploring physical, mental, and reproductive health during adolescence, including puberty, menstrual development, psychosocial experiences, and early-life factors that may influence health later in life.

Understanding the Menopause Transition

Examining the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of perimenopause and menopause, from symptom experiences to long-term well-being.

Chronic Conditions Across the Lifespan

Investigating an emerging area of focus: how chronic and autoimmune conditions intersect with women’s life stages, quality of life, and experiences of care.

Exploring Important Questions. Advancing Women’s Health.

A look at selected work underway now. Each initiative builds evidence that can strengthen research, inform care, and support better health outcomes.

Listening to Women and Girls Across Life Stages

Centering the perspectives of women and girls in how their health is understood. This work ranges from conversations with adolescent girls and their parents about growing up, health, and self-advocacy to women’s experiences of midlife and the menopause transition. What we hear shapes research questions, programs, and more person-centered approaches to care.

How Life Experiences Shape Women’s Health Over Time

Examining how chronic stress and cumulative life experiences, sometimes called “weathering,” affect women’s physical and mental health from adolescence through later life. This work explores how stressors build over time, why their effects differ across communities, and where there are opportunities to intervene earlier.

Chronic Stress & the Menopause Transition

Investigating the menopause transition through the lens of lifetime stress, including symptom experiences, health risks, and long-term well-being, and identifying gaps in scientific understanding and care for women in midlife.

Measuring What Matters in Women’s Health

Improving how women’s symptoms, experiences, and health risks are identified, measured, and assessed across life stages and populations. This work aims to make research tools, screening, and clinical assessment more accurate and inclusive, so women’s health concerns are recognized and addressed.

Connecting Research, Education, and Community

Developed in partnership with Precious Me, Inc., Her Health, Her Future brings together adolescent health education, self-advocacy, and STEM exploration. Building on earlier family-centered programming, the initiative aims to equip girls with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to better understand their health and advocate for their well-being.

Wove Health is developing evidence-informed training and educational opportunities for community organizations, practitioners, and institutional partners. Initial areas of emphasis include adolescent sexual and reproductive health, with opportunities to expand into other women’s health topics as research, partnerships, and organizational capacity grow.

Meaningful advances in women’s health require collaboration across disciplines, communities, and institutions. Wove Health welcomes opportunities to partner with researchers, community organizations, healthcare professionals, and funders to investigate important questions, strengthen evidence, and translate knowledge into better health outcomes.
